Two tenors, one kitchen
John and Jim Doe have been arguing about tenor players since they shared a bedroom.
They practise in their mother’s kitchen across the river, one at each end, because the tiles make them sound like a bigger band.
"He plays behind the beat, I play on top of it," says Jim. "So between us, we’re in time." John disagrees, at length.
Their record Live in the Basement was the night they played four encores and the bar ran out of limes.
“He plays behind the beat, I play on top of it. So between us, we’re in time.”
